Built by tradies, for tradies — and the weekend builder who wants the same service.
BuildBarn started the way most good yards do: a shed in south-east Melbourne, a handful of pallets of treated pine, and a phone that kept ringing because people couldn't get clear prices anywhere else. Fifteen years later, we're still independent, still family-operated, and still run out of a single yard in Hallam — just a lot bigger, with a lot more to sell.
We chose to grow in depth rather than in franchises. That means one yard with over a thousand SKUs on hand — structural timber, decking boards, fencing palings, Colorbond kits, posts, soils, sands, stone, mulch — instead of twenty thin branches. When you call us, you're talking to someone who can actually walk out to the rack and check.
Our customers are builders, landscapers and fencing contractors running real jobs on tight timelines, alongside homeowners doing their first deck or backyard reset. We quote both the same way: honestly, in writing, with realistic delivery windows. If we don't have it, we say so. If we can get it in for you by Thursday, that's what we'll write down.
